Kreidesee Hemmoor - Germany's deepest mailbox

One of Germany's most famous diving destinations is located north towards Bremen.

A spot that is definitely more suitable for experienced divers, but also offers dive sites for beginners.

The lake is quite large and up to approx. 60 meters deep, offering 6 entry points, some of which are accessible by car, while others, such as the Männerwald, require a 300-400 m walk. A trolley is recommended to transport equipment to some entry points.

Visibility ranges from very good (15m) to phenomenal (50m+) year-round, but below 20 meters, the temperature drops. In summer, the surface water temperature is around 21 degrees, but at 40 meters, it's only 4-5 degrees. Depending on depth and dive length, a dry suit and appropriate heating equipment are advisable.

Conclusion: The Kreidesee in Hemmoor is a must for diving in Germany, but it's also not without its challenges as a diving area; it can be deep, dark, and cold.
