PADI TecRec Dive Courses
With the PADI TecRec diving courses, this large association is also embracing technical diving. Originally founded under the DSAT label in 2000 and influenced by the DIR philosophy, the program had become somewhat outdated. Now redesigned by PADI, it aims to create a transition into technical diving.
Prerequisites:
For all Tec diving courses, in addition to suitable equipment, you will need the following documents:
Dive medical certificate (not older than 1 year), insurance (DAN, Aquamed, etc.)
A frank word about technical diving:
It is always questionable whether it makes sense to learn technical diving with a recreational diving association. The Tec Basics diver or the Tec 40 can be a suitable entry into technical diving for you. The fact that diving is less about the association and more about the instructor is even more true for technical diving, because with decompression dives you cannot immediately ascend to the surface and may have to solve potential problems on your own. It is therefore important that you can answer the following questions before starting the course:
- Is the desired qualification widely recognized, can I do anything with it at technical diving bases?
- Is my chosen instructor a technical diver?
- How many technical dives does he or she do per year?
- At what depths and for how long was he? Were these just bounce dives or appropriately long dives?
- Has your instructor participated in explorations and diving expeditions, if so, how many and when was his last one?
If you have a good feeling after answering the questions and are not sure, then ask for a trial dive.
One thing is certain: technical diving is about your health, your safety, and your life! Special offers and discount battles are more a sign of a lack of understanding of Tec diving.
