Tec Diving Courses

Why Tec Diving?

When one gas is no longer enough, when you wonder how and where to go next, when you want to expand your limits.

Tec diving begins where a direct ascent to the surface is no longer possible, such as during decompression wreck dives or diving in caves and mines, during deep dives with Trimix, ...

With this type of diving, you leave your previous recreational diving environment and go further, you plan your dives better, minimize risks, and use redundant equipment. Technical diving means more training, especially of emergency procedures, and more independent development. The foundation for this is laid in our courses.

Why Tauchsport Pape?

If you are looking for a Tec instructor, you should make sure that they are a technical diver themselves, act and live that way. And, of course, they should also do many technical dives; only then can you benefit from their experience.

Part of a technical diving course is that your instructor expands your limits with you and shows you where you can improve. This cannot be done with mass courses and exclusively simulated decompression. After the course, you need to be an independent diver who knows the risks and limits of technical diving and is thus able to safely plan and execute their dives. Before the course starts, it's always good to get to know each other and go for a dive first. The dive also plays a role in what level and experience you have, and then we can jointly determine your training level and your training plan.

Why IANTD?

IANTD set standards in mixed gas diving with its founding in 1985, and IANTD instructors have shaped groundbreaking developments in Tec and rebreather diving. Most IANTD instructors themselves lead many first dives and explorations. The difference is ultimately made by the sometimes decades of experience that flows into the training. Therefore, IANTD's training system is also very flexible and always open to technical innovations. At IANTD, instructors themselves develop the materials, and through active exchange of experience, these are constantly improved. That's why IANTD certifications are highly regarded worldwide and accepted by all Tec dive centers.

A frank word on technical diving:

It is always questionable whether it makes sense to learn technical diving from a recreational diving association. The Tec Basics Diver or Tec 40 can be a suitable introduction to technical diving for you. The fact that diving depends less on the association than on the instructor applies even more to technical diving, because with decompression dives you cannot immediately ascend to the surface and must be able to solve any problems on your own. It is therefore important that you can answer the following questions before the course starts:

  • Is the desired qualification widely recognized, can I use it at technical diving bases?
  • Is my chosen instructor a technical diver?
  • How many technical dives does he or she do per year?
  • At what depths was he or she for how long? Were these just bounce dives or appropriately long dives?
  • Has your instructor participated in explorations and diving expeditions, if so, how many and when was their last?

If you have a good feeling after answering these questions and are not sure, then ask for a trial dive.

One thing is certain: technical diving is about your health, your safety, and your life! Special offers and discount battles are more a sign of a lack of understanding of Tec diving.
