The Divemaster is the beginning of your professional career with PADI. You will learn alongside your Instructor how to supervise dive training and demonstrate exercises to student divers. You will learn to improve your own skills and enjoy assisting with dive training. The Divemaster is the first step to becoming a PADI Pro. You will receive PADI Pro access, giving you the opportunity to view exclusive job offers worldwide and participate in PADI Pro continuing education for Divemasters.
You have the option to additionally qualify as a DSD Leader through an internship, and can then conduct your own DSD (Discover Scuba Diving) courses in a swimming pool.
Prerequisites:
AOWD, Rescue Diver, EFR/React Right course no older than 24 months, own equipment, 18 years old, 40 logged dives, dive medical certificate (TTU) no older than 12 months
Requirements for completion:
- At least 60 logged open water dives.
- Participation in EFR Primary & Secondary Care courses within the last 24 months.
- Signed and read PADI Membership and License Agreement.
- Successful completion of water skill exercises.
- Creation of an emergency plan for an assigned dive site.
- Rescue skills.
- Workshops and practical application of skills.
- Fulfillment of professionalism criteria.
- Completion of all theoretical units, review questions, and the final exam.
Privileges in active status:
Divemasters may accompany and lead certified divers on recreational dives. Divemasters may conduct PADI Re-Activate courses and the PADI Skin Diver (snorkeling course).
For active PADI Divemaster status, an annual fee is due to PADI.

To go diving, you must be healthy. If you can answer all of the medical questions below with no, then you can go straight into the water. If not, then you need a diving medical certificate from a doctor.

When diving, it is important to be able to read your instruments well. Your glasses do not fit under the diving mask.
If you have a significant visual impairment, you can order a diving mask with prescription lenses from us. If you wear contact lenses, you must close your eyes when you remove your mask underwater.
If you have specific diving interests, then take a look to see if there's a specialty course for you.
For example, if you'd like to photograph or film underwater, are interested in wrecks or sidemount, or simply want to improve your buoyancy. Maybe there's something there for you.
If you want to start a Tec diving course, you will definitely need a valid diving medical certificate and diving insurance (DAN, Aquamed, etc.). For the Advanced Nitrox or higher, you'll need the Deep and Nitrox certifications, and of course, the recommended equipment for the course. You can also rent some of this equipment from us.
